C.E.I.P. MIGUEL HERNÁNDEZ
Located in Alcalá de Henares, C.E.I.P. Miguel Hernández took the name of one of the most famous Spanish poet and playwright. The school employs approximately 30 teachers to teach 500 students. It offers Educación Infantil (Preschool: 3-6 years) and Educación Primaria (Primary: 6-12 years). The school is part of Proyecto de Bilingüismo de la Comunidad de Madrid.
My school has three auxiliares and each one is assigned to different age groups. I have been assigned to work with students of 10 to 12 years in Segundo Bloque de Primaria, cursos 5º y 6º ( at four separate groups). My responsibilities include engaging with students in English classes and help them with their writing and conversation activities. In addition, I’ve been preparing the students for Cambridge exams. I have also been giving a presentation at the beginning of every class about topics related to United States such as important holidays, traditions, historical facts, etc. When I am talking to them, I like to treat kids and young adults as “adults”. I believe treating them and making them feel that they’re adults helps them to learn things more seriously. Children and young adults offer more respect in this type of environment and it helps them to be more enthusiastic about the topic they are learning.

Miguel Hernández was born on Oct. 30, 1910 in Orihuela, Spain and died on March 28, 1942 in Alicante. He was one of the most famous Spanish poet and dramatist who combined traditional lyric forms with 20th-century subjectivity. He is associated with the Generation of '27 movement and the Generation of '36 movement. [Source: Wikipedia]
